F-Troop Monday 23rd November 2009

It was such a relief not to have the severe heat (like yesterday) for our F-Troop working day. There was a lot of jobs to be done around the course because of the high winds bringing down more trees and branches.
Those F-Troopers I saw today were Des Wilson, Martin Gallagher, Garry Trigg, Duncan Dyer, George Foster, Geoff Bridge, Spencer Walklate, Noel Fenning, Warren Gray and Di Beechey.
The boys did some hard yards picking up loose timber around the course, removing & cutting up dead trees and dangerous branches, Rough Cutting and general tidying up.
Di Beechey did some cleaning up at the front entrance, wedding garden and the gardens at the 12th green.
My morning started at 7.00 am picking roses from my garden with Alice Collett so that our social committee girls Barbara Stratford and Fay Bailey could decorate the tables in the Magnolia Room for the District Ladies Luncheon. I was amazed that there were any roses left at all after the extreme heat of last week. The girls did a fantastic job of the Magnolia Room (photos attached).
My day was then spent at the putting green and Wedding Garden area as there was a lot of rubbish in the back gutters of the putting green area and the wedding garden needed a clean up and good watering after the hot windy day yesterday. Through the week I had cleaned up the front carpark, putting green and the front gardens. The combination of all of that left a huge great pile of rubbish to be collected and taken away from the practice nets area where we keep the bins. My regular F-Troop offsider for the rubbish collection from this area is Warren Gray & he did a great job today transporting a full ute load off to the dump area leaving me with two clean bins which I have promptly filled again.
Next week we have three huge days planned for Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday. These days are a special effort to remove as many tree stumps around the course as we can. We have got a reasonable amount of volunteers for the three days to help fill in the holes after the professional stump remover does his job.
Martin Gallagher has prepared a roster for anyone wishing to help so that we are not left short handed on any of the three days. If anyone else is willing to lend a hand on any of the three days - please contact Martin Gallagher.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
