This was to be the MIXED FOURSOMES CHAMPIONSHIPS to be played over 27 holes.
For once, the rain forecast was right - heavy rain falls and just to make sure we got the message - some thunder and lightning to ensure our mass exit from the course.
Our playing group today was Peter & Margaret Davidson and Garry and Doreen Trigg. We made it through the first nine with no major dramas - playing okay all around and enjoying the day. We continued on the second nine with just the lightest of sprinkling rain which was not too bad. By the 13th hole the sky was closing in and the thunder and lightning made its presence felt. A decision was made to call all players in for safety sake and by the time we had trudged back to the clubhouse we were all very wet.
The rain continued to fall very heavily and the Greens Committee made a decision to abandon play - the match is to be rescheduled to another day. I will publish this date as soon as it is available to me.
SCOREBOARD FOR THE MEN'S CHAMPIONSHIPS 2009. I have been told that the Scoreboard will not be available for publishing until next Saturday (after presentation). I will publish it as soon as it is made available to me. Presentation is to be held at 5.30 pm next Saturday 31st October 2009.
