Golf - Tuesday 8th September 2009

It was a very pleasant day for golf today and I had good company with Pam Cowin & Carmen Fitzgerald who both played well & we had some good plus scores along the way. There were some great scores from our players as you can see from the results which shows that the course is still playing well if you were a good slow greens player. I am expecting that the green will get slicker as the new growth comes through & that may sort the weak from the strong.
The Event of the day was a Ladies Single Par - 3 Grades and we had 83 starters.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY as reported to me: Trish Goulding had a lovely par Plus on the 18th after being perilously close to going in the dam; Bev Adams had 10 plus scores for her total net of plus 8; Debbie Grinham had a birdie on the 7th; Rita Gilmour had a birdie gobbler on the 11th; Barbara Stratford had a birdie on the 15th; Robyn Johnston was happy to be in the buffer; Yvonne Wilson had a lot of good putts and a nice chip on the 11th; Debra Wright had a birdie on the 2nd; Leanne Moore had a gobber on the 16th for 5; Rosalie Dyer had a nice score of Plus 3 which included 5 wipes; Val Anderson had 2 pars and a nice total of Plus 2; my highlights were 4/4 on the 16th when I desperately needed a plus and winning the raffle as I was not in "Ball" territory.
Another interesting story today was from Wendy Stapleton. Wendy had a lovely steady game but on the 13th she decided to put away her treasured "Taylor Made" golf ball that Ray had given her and play with an old ball. Near the water her buggly tipped and the treasured ball that she had so carefully put away in her bag popped out & rolled into the water before anyone could save it! Sorry about that Ray! Wendy's partners could have been more diligent and dived to save the ball. Rumour has it that Wendy was going to try & dive in after it.
