Golf - Thursday 17th September 2009

Why did it have to be such a hot windy day for our garden inspection? We have been spending hours throughout the week and this morning picking up every leaf and branch to have the course in perfect presentation and I thank all our volunteers from F-Troop that contributed to that cause.

By lunch time strong winds had undone a lot of the "neat & tidy" look however the judges in the garden competition had a good overview of the course & could see all the improvements that we had done in the last 12 months. We have entered "The Wedding Garden", "The Ladies Garden", and "The BBQ garden" in the Best Theme Garden competition (the judges allowed us to put in three gardens this year as opposed to only one last year); we entered the garden at the 18th in the Best Eco garden ; and the whole entire course gardens in the "Best Commercial garden over 1000 mtrs". I think the judges were impressed with our efforts but we are up against some stiff competition. We will know the results on the 1st October when the winners are announced at a presentation night at the Japanese gardens.

If you look closely at the photo of the Wedding garden you will see "White Satin" cushions on the bench seats. These cushions will be put out for special occasions such as weddings. Many thanks go to Rosalie Dyer & Yvonne Wilson who organised the cushions covers with the help of Cath Payne and her cousin. The cushions and material were donated and is high quality "wedding dress" fabric so we will be handling them with care. The quality of the work was first class - thanks girls!

We have a wedding there this Sunday so weather permitting they will have their first airing.
