Golf - Tuesday 11th August 2009

Today was a very special day for our Lady Golfers being our Annual Grandmother & Great Grandmother trophy day which is hotly contested among our eligible members. The Event was also a Single Stableford plus 2 Ball Aggregate with vets in conjunction.

We were unfortunate to get wet weather - just enough to make it uncomfortable for some - like myself, who are not good wet weather players. It did not bother some of our good players as you can see by the winning scores. My playing partner in the 2 Ball today was Julie Hazzard & we both qualified for the grandmothers competition - me for the first time and Julie being a grandmother to twelve granchildren. Our playing partners were Rosalie Dyer & Yvonne Wilson who won the keno ticket from us today and we did have some good highlights along the way from Yvonne and Rosalie and included upturned buggies which happened to both Julie and myself in mid play trying to juggle umbrellas & wet weather gear. Another wet weather story from Judy Verlander who snuggled up close to Norma Cubis between golf shots to try and get out of the rain - only to discover she was still getting wet because Norma was not carrying her umbrella.

We had 83 starters with visitor Lenore Brazenor from Hamersley, Perth.
