F-Troop Monday 6th July 2009

It was a very chilly start early this morning for the F-Troopers and I was very impressed to find that we had 13 starters so that we could make a dent in the workload that had built up throughout the wild, windy and wet weeks that we have had. The paths have suffered from all the water and traffic and there was plenty of loose timber brought down by the strong winds.
F-Troopers did a great job today. They moved about 16 tonn of road base out to the paths today working their way through holes one to seven, 13th & 17th. Well done troopers.
We had some good rakers on hand today as well to clean up the worst of the course including between the 4th and the 6th, the 17th tee and corner, the front of the clubhouse, back of the 18th green, 1st and 10th tee areas, 7th tee area, wedding garden, practice net garden, putting green and the car park. Martin, Peter and Bruce did a great job on rubbish pick up.
Garden work included watering and fertilizing the new tree ferns on the 2nd tee; watering the pansies and dianthus, planting out new crepe myrtle trees at the back of the temporary second green. I noticed a new flower out on the gardenias just planted at the putting green area which is a good sign that they are going to live happily there.
Those seen out working today were Duncan Dyer, Des Wilson, Spencer Walklate, Bruce White, Martin Gallagher, Peter Martin, Peter Murphy, Geoff Bridge, George Foster, Alvin Kan, Jan Walker and Di Beechey.
We also delivered another trailer load of timber today which gives us some much needed funds for our projects.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
