F-Troop - Monday 13th July 2009

There was a heap of work to be done around the course today and we were lucky enough to get dry weather and a good turn up of 12 helpers to lighten the load. The main focus was on repairing the path on the 15th which is a job the Members will appreciate being done. There was also plenty of timber and rubbish raking and pickup to be done, trees to be pruned, plantings & weeding in the gardens, repairs to the shed door. So it was all go today and much work was achieved.
Those I saw at the club today were Des Wilson, Martin Gallagher, Duncan Dyer, Geoff Bridge, Garry Trigg, Arthur Verlander, Peter Martin, George Foster, Spencer Walklate, Yvonne Wilson and Rosalie Dyer.
Yvonne and Rosalie brought in some succulent cuttings from their gardens to enhance the new garden and also some for the shade garden on the 2nd. They then went on to weed the garden on the 5th.
I also saw Anne Burgess on the course today - not yet well enough for garden duties but Anne did give us a $50 cash donation towards the new garden which was very much appreciated as we still have some finishing off work to be done there.
The troopers put in a super effort on the path at the 15th putting down a huge amount of road base. The course looks much tidier with some raking and timber pickup done. I managed to plant another of the crepe myrtle trees at the back of the temporary green on the 2nd, trim a tree on the 18th, plant out the hydrangea cuttings and crocus bulbs donated to us by Doon Jansen, tidy up the garden at the back of the putting green, clean out the drain at the back of the putting green, tidy the new magnolia garden & fertilize the gardenias.
In all, a good days work done by the Troopers.
We have also made some more sales of timber this week which is boosting our funds and enabling us to continue working through our projects.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
