Golf - Tuesday 7th April 2009

It was a lovely cool day for golf today but rather heavy going out on the couse I thought, but it did not worry a lot of our good golfer's who bought home some good team scores.
My playing partners today were Judy Verlander (Captain), Elizabeth McNamara and Rita Gilmour. We had a good fun day and had some good chips and putting from time to time.
Judy was a handy ball collector with her little bike to buzz around on after we selected the best ball. We did find the birdies hard to come by but had a nice day on the village green.
The Event of the day was a 4 Person Ambrose. We had 76 starters with one visitor from Tallwoods.
4 PERSON AMBROSE RESULTS:
WINNERS: Debbie Grinham, Judy Ruitenberg, Kathy Small and June Bowen - 63 3/8ths
RUNNERS UP: Leonie Casey, Lesley Gregory, Lynn Puiatti and Tania Burt - 65

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DAY AS REPORTED TO ME: Team of Leonie Casey, Lesley Gregory, Lynn Puiatti and Tania Burt - and "Eagle" on the 15th after a great chip by Lesley Gregory; Team of Debbie Grinham, Judy Ruitenberg, Kathy Small and June Bowen - A team "birdie" on the 11th and some good scoring with successful long putts into the hole with much high fiving and loud cheering which could be heard far and wide.
President Rosemary Cohen announced that the result of the Horshem raffle was a total of $1,261 which was rounded to $1,500 topped up from our "Raffle account" . Rosemary passed on the appreciation and thanks of the Horsham Club to our Members for our generous contribution in their time of need.
On a sad note we understand that Di and Steve Thomlinson's son Damien has been seriously injured while serving with the Australan Army overseas. Our thoughts go to Di, Steve, Damien & their family at this time of trauma.
