F-Troop - Monday 17th November 2008

It was an awesome effort by F-Troop today. If anyone would have stood still today for any length of time at the club this morning they could have been trimmed; transplanted; cut off at the feet; raked; weeded; watered; mowed;power blowed; concreted; burnt at the stake or carted off in the rubbish truck. It was all action & a fantastic result as you can see by the photos.

We had a wonderful turn up of F-Troopers for our "power" day. Those that I saw were Clyde Cruickshanks, George Foster, Noel Fenning, Duncan Dyer, Garry Trigg, Doug Incoll, Gary Sammons, Peter Martin, Richard Casey, Leonie Casey, Bruce White, Rod Martin, Shane Martin, Gary Grant, Geoff Bridge, Di Beechey, Mark stimpson, Peter Murphy, Anne Burgess, Judy Hughes. Helping out for the first time today was Gary Grant and Geoff Bridge. Welcome aboard Gary & Geoff. YES, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Some honourable mentions today :

To Wayne Tomkinson who delivered to us today 100 lovely petunia plants for the beautification of our course. Thank you Wayne for your very generous donations of plants for our gardens;

To the Central Coast fieries who skillfully controlled the burning of the excess timber and rubbish storage area that had become a dangerous eyesore on our course.

To Leonie Casey for polishing up the "Gosford Golf Club" plates at our front entrance gates. I wonder how many of us realised that the plates were there!!!!!

To Ron Beechey and Ross Drakeford for building the enhancing timber slatted wall that hides the entrance to the public toilets at the BBQ area. (photo attached)

To Rod Martin for voluntering his time and skill as a concreter and being responsible for the laying of the concrete path & to Shane Martin for being leading hand for also voluntered his time to help.
To Jason Barton (who deserves an honourable mention every week) for continuing to sponser F-Troop and making available to the F-Troop every Monday some pies, doughnuts & slices. Thanks Jason - much appreciated.

It was a very busy day trying to get around & cover all of todays projects. We removed the old pine trees from the putting green; cleaned out and added garden soil to the the area next to our front gates where Richard & Leonie created a new garden today; cleaned out the magnolia garden, removed rubbish & added 100 petunia plants to our front entry and at the magnolia garden and bubbler garden; cleaned up the native garden on the 6th tee including the area behind the tee, trimming back some of the natives, cleaned up along the creek edge, removed rubbish; cleaned out the drains at the back of th 14th tee; completed the concrete path on the 18th; removed loose timber from around the course; mowed the rough.

The concrete path was still setting this afternoon and we had some people on "Concrete watch" duties as we are aware that we have a few people on this course that have a little too much space between their ears and would think it amusing if nothing else to deface the finished work. Up to early afternoon the path was fine - and on the final last two checks we found not one defacing but two!!!! I took a photo of the first one which you can view above and the following photo when we had to ruin the finished work to remove the damage. After this there was a further defacing on the second check with the initials "A.H" and "CH" "2008". The finished work had to again be ruined to remove the defacing. It is a shame these players did not have any appreciation or respect for the work that F-Troop do or care less that people have put a lot of time and skill into getting the job perfect. I may start a "SHAME FILE" to deal with these people.

Thank you to our F-Troop one and all for your efforts today. Our course is improving every week and your input does make a difference.
