We had some good highlights through out the day with Clyde getting some really good pars and skipping around the dam at the 10th without getting wet, Lyn had a good day and contributed well to us girls beating the boys at the 17th hole. The dire weather forecast for today did not happen - but it was the whole four seasons in one day - starting with a cool overcast morning, followed by strange cloud formations ranging from dark purple to silver grey. It became more threatening with huge thunder claps that scared the daylights out of us, lightning was not obvious but was not far away. We had light showers that were not enough for us to bother with rain gear. This was followed by a break in the rain with sunshine and blue skies and humid heat. At least it was better than full on rain which is what we were expecting and it was great to be able to finish our round of golf.
Our playing partners today were Terry and Sandra Coyle who were great company. Both of them had good respectable games winning a ball each and Sandra won nearest the pin on the 12th hole with a great drive to the green - narrowly missing a birdie putt. My highlights were sinking some good putts and finishing with the same ball I started with.

Leading up to Christmas we had a good number of volunteers who had time to give to our projects which was great.
On hand we had Sam Knox, Duncan Dyer, Trevor Harrison, Rob Benson, Peter Martin, Don Nicholls, John Hollebon, Bev Way, Lyn Bates, Leeanne Binns, Jan Martin.
Projects worked on today were firewood preparation, loose timber and rubbish pick up around the course, hedge maintenance, Garden maintenance at the practice nets garden, Gardens at the 2nd, 3rd and 5th tees, 18th tee including watering of gardens where possible, blowing of paths at the BBQ gardens and around the clubhouse.
It was disappointing for us to know today that Ron Gowing has retired from F-Troop due to health issues. We really have appreciated Ron’s input over the number of years he has been coming. He has kept the front of the clubhouse and the paths to the tees and practice nets in pristine condition every Monday and his garden advice has been invaluable. Thank you for your efforts Ron and we will miss you. We hope your garden advice will still be at the end of the telephone.
Being school holidays the grandchildren need attention so one of my little ones helped me out for a couple of hours in the gardens before we headed off early to attend the other two grand daughter’s dance concert.
After a hard morning’s work morning tea was most appreciated.

The cloud cover and gentle breeze was very welcomed today after the recent hot days.

Funeral arrangements for the Late Noel Fenning are 12 o’clock this Saturday 16th December 2023 at Greenway, Erina followed afterwards at the Elanora Hotel.
Noel was an ex golfer at Gosford until his health prevented him from playing golf and he was also part of F-Troop for some years.
The temperature reached 38 degrees today but would have been a lot hotter out on the course.
Needless to say our numbers were down with sensible players heading out early to beat the heat.

We had a skeleton crew working at the Golf Club today because of our support for the Richard Casey Memorial Day. Richard was a Member of F-Troop pre-grandchildren days and was greatly respected by all of us.
On hand we had John Hollebon working on the clubhouse hedges and Lyn Bates working on the gardens at the 2nd 3rd and 5th holes + installation of solar Christmas lights at the Clubhouse.

The Richard Casey Memorial Golf Day was a huge success with 104 starters supporting the day.
Leonie, Kieran and family put together a great day of golf in memory of Richard. The day was followed by fresh sandwiches served upstairs in the much appreciated air conditioning after a hot morning on the golf course.
