Golf - Tuesday 21st June 2011
Our day started out with blue sky and sunshine and stayed that way for the Ladies Golf Competition which was appreciated by all the players. This afternoon has clouded over with some wind and rain - hopefully short lived as we have had enough rain to last us for quite a while.
Doing some more weeding at the 17th garden today I came across some lovely hidden treasures flowering away. The camellias and cliveas have only become visible since the garden has been kept trimmed and weeded. A bit of TLC goes a long way.
The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Par and we had 62 starters.

F-Troop Monday 20th June 2011
Another lovely sunny day was welcome at Gosford Golf Course. The course is draining well with just a couple of wet fairways and soft spots.
We had a good turn up for F-Troop this morning considering it was the final day of the US Open which we would all liked to have watched. I was impressed that our workers were willing to donate their time knowing that we had a lot of rubbish pick up to be done.
Today we had Martin Gallagher, Geoff Bridge, Peter Martin, Jan Martin, Garry Trigg, Richard Casey and Anne Burgess.
The boys set to work with the tractor and utes to pick up rubbish on the course that had been sitting for the last two weeks and then picked up some timber for firewood that had been donated to us from Wyoming.
That filled the whole morning so we did not get to any of the other tasks.
Anne Burgess worked on Camellia way, mulching the plants and planting out a new camellia "Debbie" that Anne had donated. Thanks Anne! Camellia Way is going to look magnificent when all the shrubs mature.
Anne also cleaned up the BBQ area at the clubhouse.
I busied myself at the 17th garden, raking up sticks at the dogleg corner and partly weeding the garden. I was distressed to see that the rabbits had discovered the Hebe plants that I put in last week. They have chewed them down to sticks which is a shame. They are showing signs of regrowth so maybe they will recover if the rabbits get bored with them.
Morning tea this morning was fruit pastries and mini muffins - delicious - Thanks John!
We have our hands full preparing the gardens for the Garden Competition which is somewhere near the end of August/early September so you will see a lot of garden activity in the next few months so we can be at our shining best.
YES! WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Their next challenge is to get home via unflooded roads.
Golf - Friday 17th June 2011
The weather finally came good and gave us a day of sunshine and a good stiff breeze which will help to dry out the course. I understand that the course is still very wet underfoot which is understandable given all the rain that has fallen. By this time next week, all going well, we should be back to normal.

Golf - Thursday 16th June 2011
The weather is improving at long last. We need plenty of sunshine and a good breeze to dry out the course.
The course was OPEN today but there were not too many keen players as the course was so wet.
The Golf Event of the day was a Ladies Single Stroke but there were no starters which was understandable given the state of the course.
IT'S A GIRL!
There was some good news today and that was the birth of our granddaughter Emily Alice, 2.8 kilos, born this afternoon. Mother & baby are well. Emily will be a baby sister for Joel.
Emily is the first girl in the Martin family for several generations.
Golf - Wednesday 15th June 2011
The weather forecast continues to be correct and we have had more rainfall overnight & during the day.
The outlook across the course looked miserable and I was not surprised to find that we did not have enough starters for the Men's Competition today. The course was open but very water soaked with more rain falling.
I have attached some colourful images from my garden to cheer you up! Our Bower Bird has built a very impressive "Bower" so the females must be very impressed.
The Gold Coast Golf Tour has continued today with a match at Hope Island - photo attached of the winners (minus one head) - Thanks to Peter Martin for the photo and update.

Gold Coast Golf Tour 2011 Update - Wednesday 15th June 2011
The Gold Coast Golf Tour is going well. The weather has been much kinder to them than to us and they have managed to play golf every day without the downpours that we have been suffering.
The winners thus far - Day 1 Jeff Nash, Day 2 Graeme Wright, Day 3 Keith Dawson.
As the above photos indicate the boys are having a good time.
My thanks to Gary Sammons for the photos & updates.
